Things are looking good for the swimmers of Farnham swimming club, following the 3rd place finish at the Minor League gala on Saturday evening. Competing against Hart, Andover, Eastleigh and Locksheath they finished only two points behind the second club, this was extremely encouraging as several of the younger swimmers were competing in their first gala.
The best were James Butcher 1st in the u11 50m butterfly in a time of 46.94 seconds and Beth Kelly 1st in the u11 50m breaststroke in a time of 50.3 seconds, they were joined by Natalie Jones and Nick Harding to win both medley and freestyle relays. These were backed up with 1st places for Fleur Robertson open 100m backstroke with a pb time of 1.13.36 and Adenais Vachon u15 free 29.22 and u15 fly 33.08. Adenais was joined by Matthew Teague, Katherine Browne and Chris Browne to win the u15 medley and freestyle relays. With 2nd places were Stacy Gibbons open fly, David Smith open Breaststroke, Catherine Jefferies and Marco Astin u13 freestyle, Rosie Webster u13 breaststroke, Beth Kelly u11 fly and Matthew Teague u15 free and fly along with the squadron relay team.
With 28 personal best times from 42 individual events the whole team
went away from the Fleet pool on a high
Especially pleased with the result was chief coach Dirk Cox as the
swimmers had lost valuable pool time due to the unfortunate closure of the
Garrison pool.
