Surrey County Championships
Golden girl inspires Farnham
Farnham Swimming Club started the Surrey County Championships with a handsome haul of medals. During the first two weekends of the Surreys, Farnham won eight golds, five silvers and five bronze medals.
Adenais Vachon (11 years) was an impressive winner of seven golds, her successes coming in the 50m, 100m freestyle, 100m individual medley, 200m IM, 50m,100m and 200m butterfly. She also claimed silvers in the 200m freestyle, 50m backstroke and a bronze in the 100m backstroke. Adenais finished fourth in the 200m breaststroke and fifth in the 50m breasstroke.
Sarah Taylor (12 years) came an excellent first in the 100m individual medley, then second in the 50m and 200m breaststroke and third in the 200 IM.
Martyn Smithers (16 years) swam superbly to gain bronze medals in the 200 individual medley and 200m butterfly. Rhiannon Davies (15 years) took bronze in the 50m freestyle and fifth in the 50m breaststroke, while James Fox (17 years) was narrowly beaten into fourth place in the 50m backstroke and came seventh in the 100 backstroke.
Richard Hall (13 years) achieved fifth in the 200m IM and sixth in the 200m freestyle and 200m butterfly. Fleur Robertson (14 years) came sixth in both the 50m backstroke and 100m freestyle.
Credit goes to Rosie Webster, William Miller, Catherine Jefferies, David Smith, Emily Webster, Matthew Teague and Stacy Gibbons for their excellent swimming. All the Farnham swimmers achieved personal best times and their competitive attitude left coach Arthur McMahon a very happy man.
