Farnham Swimmers meet strong opposition
Farnham Swimming Club met stiff opposition from five other clubs in round 1 of the junior cup at Guildford. This presented Farnham with a strong challenge and the squad battled hard and was rewarded by some fine individual and team performances.
Catherine Jefferies swam superbly to win the U.11 50m Freestyle. Rosie Webster swam powerfully in the U.11 50m Backstroke but was narrowly beaten into 2nd place. Adenais Vachon was in fine form and was victorious in the U.12 50m Freestyle and claimed two fine second places in the Butterfly and Backstroke. William Miller was just edged into 2nd place in the U.12 50m Backstoke. David Palant had a great swim in the U.14 100m Butterfly to achieve a well deserved 2nd place. Richard Hall powered through the water to achieve a fine victory in the 100m Freestyle and 2nd place in the 100 I.M and 100m Backstroke.
The U.11 girls Freestyle relay team (Charlotte Teague, Sophie Hart, Rosie Webster and Catherine Jefferies). The U.11 boys Freestyle relay team (Marco Astin, Kieron Pickford, Rhys Davies and Tom Curran) and the U.12 girls medley team (Adenais Vachon, Freya Robertson, Anna Watson and Lucy Evans) all achieved creditable 3rd places.
Farnham batttled hard throughout and their efforts were rewarded with a fine fifth place in what proved to be an extremely competitive event.
