Tough night for Farnham swimmers

Farnham swimmers battled hard at the recent Minor League swimming gala at Basingstoke Aquadrome on Sat 22nd May, swimming strongly and gaining a good fifth place overall against tough opposition. Other participating clubs included Fareham, Locks Heath, Southampton, Wandsworth and Basingstoke Bluefins.

There were some great individual performances, with Kieran Pickford winning the U12 50m backstroke, Adenais Vachon winning the U13 50m freestyle and 50m fly, Sarah Taylor winning the U15 50m fly and finally David Pallant winning the U15 50m fly. Aside from the Farnhams winners, there were also some very fast swims which gained some great second places. Amongst the silver medallists were Catherine Jefferies (U11 50m free), Adenais Vachon (U13 50 breaststroke), and Sarah Taylor (U15 50m breaststroke). Farnhams mixed relay teams also weighed in with valuable points with two second places in the U12 Freestyle relay (Lucy Gibbons, Marco Astin, Rosie Webster, Kieran Pickford) and U15 Freestyle relay (Daniel Traylen, Emily Webster, Sarah Taylor, David Pallant)

Farnham coach Dirk Cox was delighted with the result and the fighting spirit from all the Farnham swimmers.
