Murky Waters don't deter Farnham

Farnham swimmers performed excellently at the recent Littlehampton Open swimming gala on Sun 24th April held at Portsmouths Victoria Pool. This was despite a strange event mid gala when dirty water was seen filtering into the pool. This led to an unscheduled three hour break and some unexpected leisure time after which the Farnham swimmers came back refreshed and ready for action.

The star of the event for Farnham was Rhiannon Davies who picked up double gold in the 15 year girls 50m freestyle and 50m breaststroke. There were also great wins and further Gold medals for Kieran Pickford (Boys 11 years 50m fly), Adenais Vachon (Girls 11 years 50m backstroke) and William Miller (Boys 11 years 50m backstroke) Other Farnham swimmers amongst the medals were 15 year old Stacy Gibbons (2 silver, 2 bronze) and 13 year olds Emily Webster and Kayleigh Copeland, who both won silver medals in the 50m free and 50m backstroke respectively. There were also high finishes and great performances from many of the Farnham team including Rosie Webster, Sophie Hart, Tom Copeland, Rhys Davies, Helena Pickford, Charlotte Teague, Mathew Teague, Lucy Evans, Anna Watson and Lucy Gibbons.

Many of these Farnham swimmers are in their first year of competition against older swimmers and produced some very strong swims and PBs. Overall Farnham won over 20 medals and coach Arthur McMahon was pleased with the determination and effort put in by all of his team.
