Farnham finish halfway in final Rother league gala
Farnham swimmers came third (of five) at the recent Rother League Gala on Sat 24th September at Basingstoke.
Other participating clubs were Guildford, Basingstoke, Epsom and Isle of Wight.
It was clear from early on that the gala was a straight fight between Guildford and Basingstoke. Farnham were midway throughout and there were some good successes and some strong swims.
Farnham's victories came from Adenais Vachon (U14 50m Backstroke) and Marco Astin (U12 50m Freestyle). Both hard fought victories against tough opposition. There were also good second places for Marco Astin (U12 50m Fly), Adenais Vachon (U14 50m Freestyle/Fly), Fleur Robertson (U16 100m Freestyle), Kieran Pickford (U12 50m Backstroke), Rhiannon Davies (Open 100m Freestyle) and David Smith (U16 100m Breaststroke). Farnham's team of U12 boys also picked up a fantastic victory in the 4X1 Freestyle relay. Congratulations to Marco Astin, Kieran Pickford,Rhys Davies and Thomas Curran. A great effort. The girls relays also chipped in with second places in the U14 Freestyle and Medley relays ( Katherine Browne, Freya Robertson, Lucy Primmer, Adenais Vachon) and the U16 Freestyle Relay (Emily Webster, Sara Fox, Fleur Robertson and Adenais Vachon)
This was another difficult gala and Farnham worked hard for their 3rd place, finishing well clear of the 4th place team. Their coach Dirk Cox was contented with the result but expects great improvements as the season progresses.
