Farnham swimmers rusty after summer layoff
Farnham swimmers came fourth at the recent Rainbow Trophy Gala on Sat 17th September at Epsom.
Other participating clubs were Chichester, Kingston Royals, Epsom and Wandsworth.
It was clear from early on that Farnham were struggling for top form against some very strong opposition. Kingston Royals being in particularly impressive form ! Despite this, there were some good successes for Farnham and some battling swims.
Farnham's victories came from Adenais Vachon (U14 100m Freestyle) and Fleur Robertson (U16 100m Backstroke). Well done to both girls. There were also good second places for Marco Astin (U12 50m Backstroke), Lucy Gibbons (U12 50m Backstroke), Adenais Vachon (U14 100m Backstroke/Fly), David Pallant (U16 100m Fly), Rhiannon Davies (Open 100m Freestyle) and David Smith (U16 100m Breaststroke). In the relays Farnham had a great victory in the U16 boys medley and the team of Daniel Traylen, David Pallant, Richard Hall & David Smith are to be congratulated for a fine team effort. The U16 girls freestyle team also managed a great second place (Adenais Vachon, Fleur Robertson, Sarah Fox, Emily Webster).
This was difficult gala after the summer break and Farnham will expect to see the results of their new training program in the upcoming months. New coach Dirk Cox still sees huge opportunities for improvements and has great hopes for the future.
