Fast finishing Farnham swimmers just pipped at Bognor

Farnham swimmers came second at the recent Rother League Junior Trophy on Sat 9th July at Bognor. Other participating clubs were Andover, Chichester, Godalming, Ringwood, Seagulls, Wey Valley and Barracuda. This was a tough gala with eight teams fighting hard to win the trophy. Wey Valley started strongly and were well ahead by halfway. Farnham then had a purple patch winning almost every race and were level going into the last few races.

Sadly for Farnham, Wey Valley then battled back and took the trophy with Farnham just behind in second place. Farnhams victories came from Richard Hall ( U14 50m Freestyle, Backstroke & Butterfly), William Miller ( U12 50m Freestyle), Adenais Vachon (U13 50m Freestyle, Backstroke & Butterfly), Freya Robertson (U12 50m Backstroke), Lucy Gibbons (U12 50m Freestyle), Marco Astin (U13 50m Backstroke) and Catherine Jefferies (U11 50m Freestyle). In the relays Farnham had victories in the mixed (two girls, two boys) U13 Freestyle and Medley relays as well as the mixed U12 & U14 freestyle relays. Aside from the wins, there were also great individual second places for Natalie Jones, Kristina Stone, Charlotte Teague, Emily Webster, Sophie Hart, Thomas Curran, Nicolas Harding and Katherine Browne.

This was an exciting gala with several twists and turns. Ultimately coach Dirk Cox was very pleased although there is always plenty to work on..
