Farnham strike Gold at prestigious Bournemouth Open
Farnham exceeded all expectations at the recent Bournemouth Open swimming gala on the 9/10th April bagging 2 Gold, 5 Silver and 3 Bronze medals This was made all the more pleasing as the Bournemouth meet is one of the UKs top swimming events with swimmers from Plymouth, Southampton and Rushmoor all represented.
Farnhams golden pair were Richard Hall in the 13yo boys 200m Backstroke and Sarah Taylor in the 12yo Girls 100m Individual Medley (IM). Sarah added two further silvers in the 100m and 200m Breaststroke whilst Richard was highly placed both the 50m and 100m Backstroke. Once again, Farnhams stalwart Adenais Vachon was in fine form weighing in with 3 Silvers in the 11yo Girls 100m IM, 200m IM, 50m Freestyle plus 2 further bronzes in the 50m Fly and 200m Freestyle. Fleur Robertson picked up an excellent bronze in the 14yo Girls 50m Backstroke. All four swimmers were over the moon with their achievements at this high quality gala, and deservedly so. Elsewhere, Martin Smithers was unlucky to be just outside the medals in the 16yo Boys 100m and 200m IM and there were also strong swims and several PBs from Stacy Gibbons, Rhiannon Davies, Rhys Davies, Freya Robertson, William Miller and David Pallant.
Farnham coach Arthur McMahon was delighted with the overall performances and effort from all the Farnham swimmers.
