Final Flourish for Farnham
The final weekend of the Surrey swimming championships provided more great performances from the Farnham team, who finished with eight gold, five silvers and five bronze medals. A record haul.
Leading the way were Farnham's dynamic duo of Adenais Vachon and Sarah Taylor, who added another gold, two silvers and a bronze medal between them. Both girls were also delighted to discover their times had qualified them for the prestigious Southern Counties swimming championships.
There were also fantastic PBs from Martin Smithers, Fleur Robertson, David Smith and Richard Hall, each knocking huge chunks off their previous best times. The championships finished with the relays, where Farnham's smaller squad meant that many younger swimmers had to 'swim up' against higher age groups. No more medals were forthcoming despite excellent effort from all the relay squads.
The championships are now completed for another year, having been swum over 3 weekends at Guildford Spectrum and Crystal Palace. Farnham coach Arthur McMahon was delighted with the overall performances and effort from all the Farnham swimmers.
